There are some unwritten rules that you are expected to follow while on the golf course. Of course, some of them are written down, but if you have ever golfed with a rude or obnoxious individual that you didn’t like very much, then you have probably realized that these rules mean no more to some people than your feelings do. So, here are some way for YOU to not be that person. Keep away from these awful habits on the green, and you will be a much more likeable golfer.
First rule, do not ask your partners if you can borrow clubs. Once you hit the green, make sure you have everything you need. Don’t badger your partners for tees, balls, clubs, or anything like that. Come on, they don’t want to share their gear with you - that is just silly!
Second, make sure to dress appropriately. Do not dress like a cowboy on the golf course! A pair of Khaki shorts, and a collared golf shirt almost always meet the requirements, so if you do not have a suitable golfing outfit, spend some time and money on one. It will pay off, because then people will not look at you and automatically rule you out as a moron!
And finally, tip the people who help you. If you are at a country club and a nice young man from the club carries your clubs to the clubhouse, tip him. If one of the ladies selling drinks out on the course provides you with a refreshing lemonade, tip her as well. The amount you tip usually depends on how expensive the green is. If you are at an expensive club, tip generously. If it is a cheap green, give them a few bucks.
